Актуальность, ожидаемый результат: расширение кругозора, повышение мотивации и познавательного интереса у учащихся к изучению английского языка,
Цель: к концу мероприятия учащиеся смогут извлечь новую информацию о празднике «Рождество» через выполнение увлекательных заданий, способствующих развитию всех видов речевой деятельности и применить полученные знания в последующей коммуникации.
Задачи:
образовательные: усвоение учащимися новой лексики по теме и пополнения тем самым собственного лексического запаса, развитие всех видов речевой деятельности, языковой догадки, активизация познавательной деятельности учащихся, культуроведческое обогащение за счет сведений о культурных ценностях англоговорящих стран.
развивающие: развитие способности осуществления продуктивных речевых действий, развитие интеллектуальных способностей.
воспитательные: привитие учащимся уважения и интереса к иноязычной культуре, воспитание культуры общения, чувства сотрудничества и ответственности, расширение кругозора у учащихся.

Ход сценария:
I. Greeting.
Good morning, dear girls, boys and guests of our lesson.
I am glad to see you all. We are here to have some fun.
Would you like to play?
It’s great! So today we are going to have an unusual lesson – a competition.
I hope you’ll enjoy our lesson and be friendly to each other.
I wish you good luck!
Let’s start.
To begin with I’d like to divide you into 3 groups.
Who has a card with a bell? You can join the first team- “BELL”
Who has a card with a snowflake? You can join the second team- “SNOWFLAKE”
Who has a card with a snowman? You can join the third team- “SNOWMAN”
-And you are our supporters (fans).
Each of the teams should choose the captain
Who is the captain of your team, please? Introduce yourself. etc
II. The main part.
Our contest is devoted to the most interesting, the most beautiful and, of course, the most favourite holiday among all people all over the world.
Task 1.
Let’s guess its name. On the screen you can see the ABC-code. You have got 2 minutes to do the task.

Look at the screen and try to read this poem.

What is there under the tree?
Presents, candles, coloured lights,
Always make the children smile.
What is this holiday about? – You are quite right, of course, about Xmas.
So, today we we’ll do different tasks on the topic about Christmas in Great Britain and in Russia.
What is this? – Christmas tree.
During our competition you’ll do different tasks and get points for these tasks. If you got the point, you’ll stick the card with you symbol on the Xmas tree and finally we’ll score your symbols and find out the winner. Is it clear?
Task3.
Do you know the date when British people celebrate this holiday?
On the 25th of December.
And what is this?
Advent Calendar. Advent means "coming" or "arrival.", the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ, it is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ.
Some families decorate the house for the beginning of Advent, or bake special cookies or treats. Advent calendars with candies, sweets and chocolates are very popular in December.
You can count the days from the 1st of December to the 25th of December (Xmas Day) – using this calendar.
Every day you open a window and find a sweet, a small chocolate or may be a small toy there.
We suggest you to take part in the contest” Advent Calendar”. You are to go to the CALENDAR, open one of the windows and name the symbol.
If your answer is right – put your team symbol on the tree. You can ask your team for help.

In Great Britain and in Russia, too, there is a tradition to congratulate relatives and friends on X-mas.
Usually people buy a lot of different greeting cards with Xmas symbols. But we suggest every team to make greeting cards themselves.
But first of all, your task is to find the secret message in the greeting card!
