Aims

to develop pupils’ skills of speaking, to improve pupils’ abilities in reading and understanding an unfamiliar text; to review grammar material: usage of the definite article the with geographical names;

to teach pupils to understand English speech when hearing;

Expected results

Students have a vision about the educational system in Britain, they know and use the vocabulary according to the theme.

I.Organization moment.
1.Greeting

Good morning, dear friends. Glad to see you. You’ve come here to practice listening & speaking English. Let’s do it! I ask you to be active, bright & emotional. Don’t be afraid of your mistakes because to err is human.

The theme of our lesson is “ Great Britain”

We shall discuss the ways of learning in Britain, compare British and Kazakhs system of education and speak about the problems of learning.

II. Warm up.

3. Where is Kazakhstan situated?

4.What countries does it border on?

5. What is the size of KZ.? (the area is 2.753 square km)

6. What can you say about the population of our country? (about 16)

7. Who is the head of the state? (the president)

8. When did Kazakhstan become an independent state? (in 1991)

IV. Presentation

The full name of the country the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is situated on the British Isles. The British Isles consist of four large islands, Great Britain, Ireland, England and Wales and great number of small islands. Their total area is over 314 000 sq. km. The British Isles are separated from the European continent by the North Sea and the English Channel. Northern Ireland occupies one third of the island of Ireland. It borders on the Irish Republic in the south.
