Travelling to the Food City.



The educational aim: forming lexical knowledge and skills of the students on the topic “Food”;

The development aims: developing oral monologue and dialogue, speech skills, skills in acting and dramatizing;

The up-brining aims: forming positive opinion about food; drawing attention to the healthy food.

The procedure of the lesson.

1.T:Good morning, dear kids! Welcome to our Food City! During the previous lesson we talked a lot about food. And today we are ready to travel to the Food City.

I hope our journey will be very interesting and useful.

Let’s start our journey!

T: We know the names of vegetables and fruits. Look at the board. Let’s repeat the words.

Cabbage, banana, tomato, cucumber, grapes, orange, pear, potato, plum, apple, lemon, carrot.

Let us help Winnie and Piggy choose vegetables and fruit.

(Children put the pictures of the vegetables and fruits into the right baskets.

2.Let’s continue the rhymes.

1.Вкуснотища-verygood! Пищу называют…(food)

2.Это вовсе не каприз, сыр мы называем…(cheesе)

3.Винни Пуха нет ли с вами? А то спрячу я свой…(honey)

4.I like apples on the tree. I like coffee, I like…(tea)

5.Виноград мы съели весь. Виноград иначе…(grape)

3.T: Let’s play. There are numbers on your desks. Let’s match the numbers with the pictures. Who has got number 1, etc…Name the word.

4.Who likes what? (Pupils recite the poem)

Some of us like brown bread,

Some of us like white,

Some of us eat a lot of meat,

Some don’t think it’s right.

Some of us like apples,

Some drink juice at night,

Some of us eat a lot of sweets,

Some don’t think it’s right.

5.What food do you like? What do you usually eat when you are hungry?

(pupil’s answers)

P: “I like apples, bananas”

5.Dear kids, do you always eat healthy food?

But the English people do. Now let’s have the on line talk with the professor from London and ask him about English people, because he knows a lot about them. Be active, please!

Pupil’s questions:

  1. Do English people like porridge?

  2. How many meals a day do the English have?

  3. Do the English eat porridge for breakfast or for dinner?

  4. Do English people eat much bread?

  5. Do English people drink a lot of tea?

The Professor’s answers:

1)Yes, they like porridge very much.

2)They have four meals a day.

3)They eat porridge for breakfast.

4)No, English people don’t eat much bread.

5)Yes, they drink a lot of tea.

T: Dear Professor, thank you very much!

6.T: And now let’s watch a play called: “The three bears”

Characters:

Father Bear, Mother Bear, Baby Bear, a little girl.

Scene 1

(Three bears sit at the table, they are going to eat porridge)

Mother Bear: Take your plate, Father!

Father Bear: Thank you, dear!

Mother Bear: Take your little plate, Baby Bear!

Baby Bear: Thank you, Mummy, Mother it is too hot!

Father Bear: Let us go for a walk!

(the three bears go out for the work)

Scene 2

(A little girl comes in and looks around)

Little girl: Whose room can it be? (looks at the table)I am hungry! (Sits down at the table and tastes the porridge)

Oh, this porridge is too hot for me!

Oh, this porridge is too cold for me!

This porridge is good!

(the noise of three bears’ steps is heard. The little Girl hides in the little bed)

Father Bear: My plate is not full!

Mother Bear: my plate is not full either!

Baby Bear: My plate is empty!

(the bears look around)

Baby Bear: oh, and who is this?..a little Girl!

Father Bear: Let’s catch her!

Mother Bear: Let’s eat her up!

Little Girl; no, you won’t! (runs away)

(the bears try to catch her, but stumble and fall down)

7.My dear children, at the end of our journey I want you to look at this Healty Eating Food Piramid .

It shows you how healthy your food is.

Very healthy: Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit.

Healthy: Eat beans and wheat products.

Somewhat healthy: eat dairy products, meat, fish and eggs.

Not very healthy: oil, fats, sweets.

8. Dear kids, today at the lesson you have learnt a lot about healthy and useful food. Be healthy! Live long!
