The scenery to the lesson “The importance of English language”.

  • Good morning everybody. Pleased to meet you. Sit down, please.

  • I have been working as a teacher for many years and I often hear the children saying: I don’t want to study English as I will not need it in my future profession. But is it really so? Where can we use English language? We’ll return to this question at the end of this lesson.

  • Today we’ll have rather unusual lesson: you are the pupils of a special school where all subjects are taught in English. And now our Maths lesson starts. (bell)

    To solve mathematical problems we’ll need the main signs.













  • And now please find the mathematical expression described in the left column. We’ll do it orally all together.

    1. Twelve divided by four gives three.

    1. 100+ 5= 105

    1. Twenty multiplied by six is one hundred and twenty.

    1. 12:4=3

    1. Four subtracted from twelve gives eight.

    1. 12-4=8

    1. One hundred added to five makes one hundred and five.

    1. 20*6=120

  • Well done! The next task is to do the calculations. You have three minutes.

1. If we divide one hundred and twenty by four, we get ... When we then multiply the result by fifty six it gives us...

2. Four multiplied by eighty-five gives us … If we add four hundred and twenty five, we have ...

3. Two hundred and ninety added to six hundred eighty gives us ... Then we multiply it by five and get us ...

  • To finish our Maths lesson you are to create your own maths problems.

  • Thanks for your work. The Maths lesson is over. (bell) You have a break.

  • Let’s play a game. It’s called Russian Gossip. Come to me, please and make a circle, I’ll say some phrase to … in whisper and you are to continue saying this phrase till the last of you will say it to me. YOU ARE THE BEST PUPIL!

  • (bell) And now the Biology lesson begins. Today we continue speaking about environmental problems. We’ll start with a short video. You are to watch it and answer the question: what are the world’s biggest problems? Write them and some key words down.

  • So, who can name the world’s biggest problems? Pollution, global warming, overpopulation, natural resource depletion, waste disposal (выброс отходов), climate change, loss of biodiversity (потеря био разнообразия) , deforestation, urban sprawl (разрастание городов), ozone layer depletion (уменьшение озонового слоя).

  • You are right. Our modern world has a lot of problems. But what people can do to improve the situation? I want you to express your opinion starting with the following phrases…..

  • Thank you for your ideas. It’s great you are not indifferent people. May be you’ll be able to do something to make our world a better place.

  • And now it’s time for break. (bell)Let’s have fun and play a little. Do you now the game Simon says?..........................

  • (bell) The bell is ringing and we start the Literature lesson. Some days ago we read the poems of different authors. We discussed the rules of translation and your home task was to translate the poems into Russian. First you’ll read them in English. Please do it with impression))

  • Nice, great, brilliant, well done, good of you………………………….

  • Thank you for your efforts as translators, I liked your work. Our Literature lesson is over. (bell)

  • And now you are pupils of Gymnasium again. Have you mentioned that all the lesson we were speaking English? When solved Maths problems, when discussed the main world’s problems….. Can we say the English language is not important nowadays?... that Russian people can’t use it anywhere? Please think a little and tell me where we can use it? What for? Work in pairs and make a spidergram.

  • Travelling, computer programmes, job, reading, watching films in the original.

  • And people of what professions can use English in their job?

  • Scientists, biologist, mathematician, volunteer, poets, writers, teachers, architects, politicians, SPORTSMAN and so on.

  • You are absolutely right. To know more about professions connected with English language I give you this text. It’ll be your home task. Please read it and ask 5 questions of different types. And we’ll continue our discussion on the next lesson.
