My Future Profession

Choosing a future profession is not an easy task. It requires considerable approach and careful reflection, because the largest part of our grown-up life is spent at work. If someone chooses to be a teacher, it means he or she should enjoy working with children and spending time on planning different activities. If a person chooses to be a doctor, he or she should be helpful by nature. If someone wants to become a chef, he or she should have imagination, patience and desire to create new dishes. As for me, I have always wanted to be an artist, but I’m afraid I will have to live a double life. Being an artist is a great mission, but it is not always well-paid. You never know whether your art is going to succeed or not.

That’s why my parents insist on pursuing another more practical and up-to-date profession. This is my last year at school, so after graduation I’m going to enter a local Law School to get higher education. I’m a curious person by nature, so no doubt that I’ll like investigating legal cases. Besides, my parents are convinced that every young man needs higher education or a degree in some area, because post-school education opens up many new horizons in life. My mum is a psychologist and my father is a small company owner. They seem to like their occupation, so I know that I can rely on their advice. Some of my friends are still hesitant about their future profession. However, I know that at present days there are lots of Career Advice Service centers to help the teenagers with their choice.

As for art, I’m sure I will start investing more time into my favourite hobby. Many prominent people successfully combined two professions. One of them was a famous Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. His lifelong occupations included medicine and literature and he lived a happy life. I hope that I will also be able to combine law and art in the future. Most jobs are done at usual office hours, from 9 am to 5 pm. Being a lawyer is not an exception. Thus, evening time and weekends I can dedicate to art. Even if my hobby doesn’t bring me fame, success and money, I will still like it. It is proven that drawing calms the nerves, leads to normal thoughts and balanced feelings. It is also a peculiar way of expression for me, which I can never experience doing other forms of activity.
